16th Congressional & 5th Assembly Debates Feb. 22nd

The Madera Chapter of the Central Valley Tea Party will host the first debates for candidates running for the newly drawn 16th Congressional District and 5th Assembly Disrict, Wednesday night February 22nd.

Congressional candidates dairyman Johnny Tacherra and Fresno attorney Brian Whelan have confirmed they will attend.

Assembly candidates Madera County Supervisor Frank Bigelow and Thomas "Ricco" Oller have agreed to participate.

The debate will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall at 2026 N. Granada in Madera. 

The forum begins at 6:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

State Senator Cannella To Speak At Eggs And Issues Forum

State Senator Anthony Cannella will be the keynote speaker at the monthly Eggs and Issues breakfast in Madera October 4th.  The event will be held at Madera Community Hospital Shebelut/Pierini Room.

Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. and the meeting concludes at 9:00 a.m.

The City of Madera will hold a community forum on redistricting.   California Elections Code §21601 requires that the City Council “adjust the boundaries of any or all of the council districts…” following each decennial federal census.  Members of the public will have an opportunity to provide input on “Communities of Interest” and learn about the use of Public Participation Kits used to draw suggested district boundaries.  The forum will be held in the Madera Council Chambers, 205 W.

Madera Seeks Applications For Appointment To Council Vacancy

The City of Madera is accepting applications for appointment to the City Council to fill the vacancy created due to the death of Council Member Sam Armentrout, effective May 4, 2011. The term of the Council seat is from the date of appointment to December 5, 2012.

Candidates must be 18 years of age, reside within District 2 of the corporate limits of the City of Madera and be registered to vote in the City of Madera at the time of application. Original applications must be returned by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011.
